About Project Red Man

What is Project Red Man?
Project Red Man is about the journey: the places we travel, the things we notice, and the ways those experiences shape us.
Born from a love of the road, the outdoors, photography, and a faith that gives the journey purpose, PRM is a place to share stories from both familiar ground and farther destinations. Sometimes that means a trail through Oklahoma. Sometimes it means standing beneath a landscape I’ve traveled hundreds of miles to see. And sometimes the most meaningful part of the journey is something unexpected along the way.
The goal is simple: go father, look closer, and pay attention to where God may be leading.
Behind Project Red Man
Project Red Man is the work of Edrick S. Harrell, an Oklahoma-based writer, traveler, photographer, and Choctaw Marine Corps veteran. What began as a place to write has grown into something broader: a way to document the places I go, the things I notice, and the lessons that come from spending time on the road.
The name Project Red Man reflects my Choctaw heritage and my Oklahoma roots. Both have shaped the way I think about place, history, home, and the stories we carry with us.
I don’t travel simply to collect destinations. I’m interested in the stories attached to places, the history beneath them, the people who have called them home, and the quiet moments that can change the way we see the world.
Some journeys will take me across Oklahoma. Others will lead hundreds or thousands of miles away. Wherever the road goes, Project Red Man is where I’ll bring those stories home.
What Guides the Journey
Project Red Man isn’t build around checking destinations off of a list. It’s about traveling with intention: seeing what’s there, paying attention to what a place can teach us, and recognizing that the journey often matters as much as where we end up.
Faith that gives the journey purpose
Curiosity about the places we encounter
Attention to the moments that matter
